ABOUT CLAYTON KUHLES

WHO IS CLAYTON KUHLES?

The US lost hundreds of aircraft in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater of operations during WW II. Most of the aircraft disappeared while transporting men and material over the notorious Hump route in the eastern Himalayas. It is believed that more than 500 airplanes and over 1,500 personnels were lost in that region. Clayton Kuhles of Prescott, AZ and his team have reached 27 crashed aircraft missing for decades, thereby accounting for 279 personnel listed as MIA. All aircraft have been US military, except for 3 CNAC aircraft and 1 RAF aircraft. In some cases, Clayton was able to carry out remains of the missing personnel and bring closure to those families. His MIA expeditions are mostly self-funded and receive no funding assistance from the US government.

His primary focus is finding missing US aircraft in China, Burma and India. because of the large number of losses that occurred there and the fact that they’ve been historically regarded as “unrecoverable”, that part of history and the US airmen have consequently been forgotten.
